Focus on Yellowhead
The TransCanada Yellowhead Highway Association is a four province, non-profit Association established in 1947 to advocate for the development, maintenance, use, and prosperity of the Yellowhead Corridor.  The City of Lloydminster is located close to the middle of this long stretch of Highway which runs from Winnipeg to the Queen Charlotte Islands and through to Hope.  Councillor Cayford has represented the City of Lloydminster at the Trans Canada Yellowhead Highway Association Board for over 10 years. In 2011, Councillor Cayford attended the 65th Annual TransCanada Yellowhead Conference and received the Tete Jaune Award for his years of dedication as a Director and an Executive Officer, and his significant contribution to the achievement of the Association’s goals and objectives.  The cities and towns along the Yellowhead Highway are constantly advocating to the provincial and federal governments for improvements and upgrades, and they have achieved substantial success and influence.  In 2012, the City of Lloydminster hosted the TransCanada Yellowhead Highway Association Conference, with Councillor Cayford at the helm as Conference Chair.

“The beauty of the organization as a whole is that everybody supports everybody else, it matters what is going on in BC with their Highway, because it will impact travel into Alberta.  It is about supporting each other and lobbying with each other.  The resolutions that get passed at Yellowhead always get responses from the Ministries.  We have never had zero response, ever, and we get lots of results.  It is a very strong and successful lobbying group.”
