About the Deputy Mayor
As a long-time resident, Deputy Mayor Rob Saunders has seen many exciting changes in the growing City of Lloydminster. He has witnessed many citizens and community leaders voluntarily commit their time and talents towards the betterment of the City. These impressions encouraged Deputy Mayor Saunders to be involved in organizations that promote community development.
Experience
Deputy Mayor Saunders is currently serving on the following boards and committees:
- Lloydminster Economic Development Corporation
- Lloydminster & District Health Advisory Council
- Chamber of Commerce
- City/County Intermunicipal Liaison Committee
- Lloydminster Planning District Commission
- Vermilion River Regional Alliance (alternate)
During his four terms on Council, Deputy Mayor Saunders has seen the completion of the Servus Sports Centre, Fire Hall No. 2, the new Highway 16 four lane east entrance into the City, the new West End Water Reservoir, upgrades to the Water Treatment Plant, improvements to the Sewage Treatment Plant, Solid Waste Landfill cell development, the refurbishment of many public facilities (Archie Miller Arena, Civic Centre, Communiplex, Legacy Centre), and the change to the Alberta RCMP operating model.
Focus
Deputy Mayor Saunders wants to continue to be engaged in responsible planning for sustainable development and growth, continuous improvement of City customer services, public safety, increase in the police force, and the addition of special constables.
